Lueur is a journaling companion app built around Luna, an AI companion who responds to your mood check-ins and journal entries. This page explains what information Lueur collects, why we collect it, and how you can stay in control of it.
Lueur is not a medical device. It does not provide therapy or clinical treatment, and it is not a substitute for professional mental health care. Luna is a supportive companion for reflection, not a licensed professional.
All of Luna's replies are generated by artificial intelligence, using the third-party model provider described below, rather than by a human reviewer, and they may occasionally be inaccurate or inappropriate. You can flag any response directly in the chat; see "Reporting a Response" below.
Lueur is intended for users aged 18 and over. See "Age Requirement" below.
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Your full name and email address, either from the sign-up form or from your Google account if you use Google Sign-In (we do not collect your Google profile photo) | To create and secure your account, via Firebase Authentication |
| Mood check-ins, journal entries, and messages you send to Luna | To power your personal journal, your timeline, and Luna's responses to you |
| Your selected language preference | To show the app and Luna's responses in your preferred language |
| A short rolling summary of past conversations | So Luna can refer back to something you mentioned earlier without you needing to repeat it; see "Conversation Memory" below |
| App usage data tied to an app-instance identifier | Collected via Firebase Analytics to help us understand how the app is used and improve it. We do not send journal content to Firebase Analytics. |
| Crash and error reports | Collected via Sentry to find and fix bugs. Journal content and other sensitive fields are filtered out on your device before a report is sent, and filtered again on our server before storage. |
| Content you report: the flagged message text, your chosen reason, an optional comment, and (if relevant) your own message that prompted it | So that when you flag one of Luna's responses, we can review it and improve Luna's safety and quality |
We do not collect your location, contacts, camera access, or phone number, and we do not use any social sign-in provider other than Google. Our application code does not log or store your IP address, either in the app or on our backend server. Our hosting provider's infrastructure may still retain standard connection-level logs for operational purposes, but that sits outside anything our app itself accesses or controls.
Our account system technically supports a few optional profile fields, such as a short bio, date of birth, or gender, for possible future personalization features. None of these fields are currently collected, shown, or editable anywhere in the Lueur app. If that ever changes, we'll update this policy and the "last updated" date above before the feature ships.
Saved quotes (Luna's responses you choose to bookmark), drawings you create, and your Sudoku history all stay locally on your device; none of this content is ever uploaded to our servers. For breathing exercises, drawings, and Sudoku, we do log that you completed the activity, so it counts toward your streak and journal timeline, along with basic outcome details: how long a breathing exercise lasted, and for Sudoku, whether it was solved, how long it took, and its difficulty. We never see the drawing image itself, the puzzle board, or any audio/visual recording of a breathing session.
You can use Lueur's breathing exercises, drawing canvas, and Sudoku puzzles without creating an account. Content you create in guest mode, such as a drawing, is never sent to Groq and never stored on our servers. It stays on your device only and is automatically cleared when the app restarts. Talking with Luna and receiving AI-generated responses does require an account.
When a chat conversation with Luna comes to a natural close, we generate a short summary of it (also via Groq, under the same terms described above) and store it with your account. This summary gives Luna continuity, so she can reference something from an earlier conversation without you needing to repeat it. Only the summary is kept; the underlying transcript used to generate it isn't separately retained beyond that one-time processing step. Deleting your account deletes this summary along with the rest of your data.
If a reply from Luna feels off, you can flag it directly from the chat. Doing so sends the flagged message text, the reason you selected, an optional comment, and, if you choose to include it, your own message that prompted it, to our backend server (hosted on Railway, listed below) so we can review it. None of this goes to Groq. Reported content is tied to your account and is permanently deleted along with it, the same as your journal entries.
If something you share with Luna suggests you may be in crisis, Luna is designed to respond with extra care and point you toward crisis resources instead of continuing as a normal conversation. This safety response happens automatically, with the same care and data protections described throughout this policy, and it does not involve a person reviewing your entry in real time.
We work with a small number of trusted service providers to run Lueur. None of them are permitted to use your data for their own advertising purposes:
| Service | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Firebase Authentication (Google) | Account sign-up and login (email/password and Google Sign-In) |
| Firebase Analytics (Google) | App usage analytics tied to an app-instance identifier, not your personal identity, and never including journal content |
| Railway | Hosting our backend server and database |
| Sentry | Crash and error monitoring, with sensitive fields (including journal content and conversation memory) filtered out on both the app and the server before any report is sent |
| Groq | Generating Luna's AI responses and conversation summaries, server-to-server only, never linked to your name or email |
Per Groq's terms, ordinary inference inputs and outputs are not retained by default, though they may be temporarily retained for up to 30 days (unless legally required to retain longer) solely to troubleshoot errors or investigate suspected abuse, and they are not used to train Groq's models. You can review Groq's current data handling terms directly at console.groq.com/docs/your-data.
We do not permit any of these providers to use your content for their own advertising purposes.
International data transfers: Firebase, Railway, Sentry, and Groq may process and store data on servers located in the United States or other countries outside your own. Wherever your data is processed, we require these providers to protect it consistently with this policy and, where applicable, to use legally recognized safeguards for cross-border transfer, such as standard contractual clauses.
Lueur does not show ads, and we do not use your journal content, mood data, or conversations for advertising or ad personalization of any kind. We do not collect or use the Google Advertising ID (AAID) or any other advertising or cross-app tracking identifier, and we do not participate in any ad network, ad exchange, or third-party remarketing. Firebase Analytics is used only for aggregate app-usage insight tied to a non-advertising app-instance identifier, as described above.
You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time, directly in the app:
Deleting your account permanently removes your account record, your authentication identity, your journal entries, your conversation memory summary, and any content you've reported from our production systems. This can't be undone through the app. Residual copies may briefly persist in secure backups or service-provider logs and are removed according to their own retention schedules.
No longer have the app installed? Email us at riyam.thekluge@gmail.com from the address associated with your account, and we'll process the deletion within 30 days.
If you'd like to clear your journal history without deleting your account entirely, you can delete individual entries, or delete all of your journal entries at once, from within the app. This removes your journal content and Luna's responses but keeps your account, profile, and login active. It does not delete your saved quotes, drawings, or Sudoku history, since those are separate, on-device content unaffected by clearing your journal.
Wherever you're located, including the EU, UK, or elsewhere with statutory data protection rights, you have the right to access, correct, delete, and receive a portable copy of your personal data:
Regardless of whether a specific US state privacy law technically applies to Lueur, we extend the same practices to all US users as a matter of policy:
To exercise any of the rights on this page, contact us at riyam.thekluge@gmail.com. We may need to verify your identity, typically by confirming the email associated with your account, before fulfilling a request.
We retain your account and journal data for as long as your account remains active. If you delete your account, this data is permanently removed as described above. Crash reports are retained only as long as needed to diagnose and fix issues.
We use encrypted (HTTPS/TLS) connections between the app and our servers, secure token-based authentication via Firebase, and access controls that limit who can reach production data. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable, concrete steps to protect your information.
Lueur is intended for users who are 18 years of age or older. During sign-up, you're asked to confirm you're 18+ through a self-declaration checkbox, or for Google Sign-In, a one-time confirmation dialog. This confirmation is stored locally on your device and tied to your account, so you won't be asked again. It's never sent to or stored on our servers, and we don't independently verify age through any ID or age-verification service.
Lueur isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18, or in any case from children under 13 (the US COPPA standard). If we become aware that someone under our minimum age has created an account, we'll delete the account and its associated data. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at the address below and we'll remove it.
If we make meaningful changes to how we handle your data, we'll update this page and change the "last updated" date above.

A note on sensitive content: Lueur is a supportive companion, not a substitute for professional care. Your journal entries may contain sensitive personal reflections, so please be mindful of what you share, and reach out to a qualified professional if you're going through a crisis. Lueur is not equipped to respond to emergencies. If you're in crisis, contact your local emergency services or a crisis hotline immediately; findahelpline.com can help you find one near you.
